Arts Department - Dance Performance

On Wednesday 17th March, our senior dance students were treated to a live dress rehearsal of "This Piece won't Change the World" - a physical theatre, dance performance based on the raw realities of a relationship. This piece is being staged in the Dunedin Fringe Festival, in our treasured performing arts space here at St Hilda's, which opens tonight.

Students giggled away while choreographers Matt and Bene put on a beautiful 'real life' show. Marty, award winning lighting and set designer, staged the lighting throughout.

(From the website): What is real/actual/autobiographical is morphed into fiction leaving an uncertainty as to what is genuine and what is fake. This is an exploration of the real, the surreal and what lies in between. A performing couple perform a couple of couples and are married with kids. The stereotypes, the cliches, the truths, the untruths.

Shedding light on this matter, highlighting, distracting, suggesting and even censoring is the lighting design itself, reacting in realtime to what is being proposed on stage.

We feel incredibly lucky in the Performing Arts department to be able to see live performances and be audience members once again. For more information on this performance please see the attached links below.
