Senior Water Polo Final

After a successful series of games, SHCS ended up facing their nemesis Otago Girls! SHCS had managed to defeat them the last two times they had met, so would this be the lucky third time or not?

The first quarter ended strongly with SHCS up by two goals. The second quarter opened with an early goal by Otago Girls and they did not relent and the quarter ended with Otago Girls equalizing the score. SHCS opened the third quarter with a goal. Otago Girls replied to this challenge - twice, but we responded and the quarter ended at 4-4. The fourth quarter - everything was to play for!

It was fast and exciting. Otago Girls gave our defence the slip and opened with a swift goal. And another. With 90 seconds to go, the game became frenzied, but we could not quite convert our goal attempts. Otago Girls took the win, 6-4.

An excellent game was played by all the team. It was wonderful to see their tactics, plays and communication work so well. We may have lost the final, but we left, heads high.
