Here we are at the final school Friday for 2021  You can't say this year hasn't flown by! It was an exciting week for our juniors, carrying on with the festive themed activities and spending plenty of time in the pool

Last Thursday we had a Teacher only Day. This meant an extra day off school and a scavenger hunt organised with Robyn! It sounded like quite the adventure, heading off into town to take photos and find different items. This is always a great way to see a little more of Dunedin and bond with your year group. Prizes were awarded on Monday - the best kind... chocolate!

After school on Tuesday we carried on with our Christmas gift bag crafting, deciding to fill them with some baking. We found a recipe for gingerbread people, with a twist! The cookie shapes were baked with their arms in the air, meaning there was space for them to hold a lolly - which was very cute! The spare gingerbread cookies were decorated in all sorts of sprinkle and chocolate chip outfits. The Year 9s did a great job of baking and creating these, which looked amazing once wrapped up. The rest were given to friends and staff as a token of gratitude!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we were unable to have the juniors at our annual Christmas Dinner. However, this meant we were able to have a separate Junior Christmas Party. This was held on Wednesday evening and ended up being such a success! The kitchen prepared their usual delicious meal, complete with baked ham, roast beef, gourmet potatoes, surimi and shrimp pasta salad, along with much more and an amazing dessert.

After enjoying a meal together it was time to watch the year level performances. Nat had set both year groups the challenge of creating a dance from a selected Christmas song - 'Merry Christmas Everyone'. Both groups did a great job, with two very different acts! This was a fun addition to the usual Christmas celebrations.

We finished the night by gathering to exchange secret santa gifts. There was a lot of thought that had gone into the present making and purchasing, so it was great to see the reactions of each student opening their wee prezzie. This was a special evening and great chance to get together one last time before heading off for the holidays. There was plenty of positivity, smiles and laughter - ending the final week of term on a high!

On Thursday night we held the gingerbread house competition. This is always a highlight for the juniors, being able to let loose with their creativity It felt a bit like the block, each team rushing around to construct the house, ice walls together, pick design elements and of course creating a feature piece to win them the overall title of champions!! We loved each house, so unique and well put together. Judging will commence today - leaving the juniors in anticipation (self control is hard when you’re staring at such a delicious looking item, but can’t quite have it yet!) Take a look at the photos below to see what they made - well done everyone.
