Weekly News Term 4 Week 4

Dear Parents and Caregivers

After a fabulous week of special assemblies, final full school chapel, and two junior dances, today we farewelled our senior students.

We know they are well prepared, and ready for the external examinations that form part of their NCEA record of learning. Despite the interruptions caused by COVID19 we are confident that our students have been able to stay on track with their learning programmes. Staff have assisted them to meet milestones and deadlines and they have the content, strategies and skills that will give them confidence as they go into this next phase of assessment. How they utilise those tools will be up to each individual student of course, and we wish them all the best for this opportunity to test themselves against a national standard.

Next week sees our year 10's facing their own adventure and challenges, although slightly different to that of the senior students, as they head off to Tautuku for the year 10 camp. The students in years 7-9 will be taking part in an immersive and interactive social justice unit, which I know they will find engaging and interesting.

The one common factor in all of these activities is the passion, work ethic and commitment of our staff, and I would like to thank them, on behalf of our community for their dedication to their craft. These exciting learning opportunities could not go ahead without staff who are willing to give as much as our staff do, and I believe our students are very fortunate to be in a school where so much time, thought and effort goes into creating memorable, engaging and relevant opportunities to grow life long learners.

Memories are created through the types of opportunities our students will enjoy in the coming weeks, and it is a privilege to work alongside such enthusiastic and energetic professionals.
