Tolcarne News
It has been a week of mixed emotions at Tolcarne, with our Year 13 students celebrating their time at the hostel. Their final week was filled with creative dress ups, a summer themed prank day at school and of course our Christmas and Leavers Dinner.
We celebrated these girls and an early Christmas on Wednesday evening, treated with a absolutely stunning Dunedin day. As well as having the whole hostel in the dining room, we also invited some special guests along to share the special night with us.
Jodie and her team cooked an absolute feast. We had canapés to start, followed by Christmas ham, turkey, chicken, various salads... the list goes on! For dessert there were options of fruit salad, crème brûlée and two types of sweet roulade. The kitchen team did an amazing job of making the evening so special, we certainly did not go hungry!
Dotti and Beth spoke their final words as Head Boarders to the group, reminiscing on their five years as 'Tolcarne girls'. From here the Year 13's emotions continued to rise, as Nat and Anna performed the song 'Butterfly Fly Away'.
The Year 13 students have been such a great group of leaders, creating a fun and inclusive environment throughout the hostel. We will miss their humour and smiling faces, but are equally excited for the new journeys they are about to embark on 
On Saturday we held our annual Tribe Games. This was a great day with all girls getting involved, trying to score some final Tribe Points! There were all types of activities, from the egg toss (which got messy!) to dog biscuit races and chalk drawings. We finished the morning with a BBQ lunch and of course ice cream! Well done to Grendon, who took out the top spot for the 2020 Tribe Competition! Thanks to Ziggy for her great organisation on the day and to the Year 13 Tribe Leaders for all of your work throughout the year.
Tonight Robyn, Ange and Isla are taking the Year 9 cohort off to Waihola for their camp - we are hoping that the rain clears for our Saturday activities! The Year 10 girls have been invited on the 'Tolcarne Mystery Bus Tour'... All will be revealed to these girls tonight 
To our seniors - well done on another great year at school. Good luck for the upcoming few weeks, we will all be thinking of you!
