Tolcarne News

Kia ora Tolcarne Whanau. Here we are at the end of our second week, time is flying by! Winter sport has been keeping us busy each week night and on Saturdays, along with Bex's weekend activities starting back up.

On Saturday afternoon some of the Year 9 students headed to the rugby with Mrs Rathbone, Robyn and Ziggy to watch Grace Hastie play her first home game for the Otago Spirit. This was a fantastic win for the team and it was great to see Grace playing at Forsyth Barr Stadium after so many seasons of hard work! Well done Grace, we can't wait to follow along with the rest of your rugby journey.

This week has been a bit busier at Tolcarne, as we have started with some of the events on our calendar. The Year 13 Buddy Supper was held on Wednesday evening, where the Year 9s had the chance to thank their buddies formally. These students have done a fantastic job of supporting the Year 9s throughout their first two terms at Tolcarne. They’ve gone above and beyond, making the transition to boarding that much easier - thank you  And well done to the Year 9s for organising such a lovely evening with gorgeous handmade cards #tolcarnefamily

On Tuesday we decorated cupcakes for the Buddy Supper, with the Year 9s putting so much thought into each design. We had all sorts of coloured icing, lollies and sprinkles, making the cupcakes unique! These went down a treat on Wednesday evening, with everyone enjoying the array of sweet decorations used on top.

Ange and Marcelle have been away this week presenting the Parent Seminar throughout the community. They've visited Gore, Cromwell and Ranfurly, experiencing a New Zealand style 'traffic jam' in Lauder!

The juniors are getting excited for the Tolcarne Social next Thursday. With the weekend approaching, this will be the perfect chance to head down town and find any final 'Neon' costumes. We are very excited for this event, after not being able to hold the social in 2021 -  bring on Thursday!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone, enjoy the sunshine and take the time to refill your cup  Ma tē wā
