Dunedin Schools Junior Debating Winners!

On Wednesday 9th September, St Hilda's held the semi-finals and finals of the Dunedin Schools Debating competition's junior division.

Year 10's, Zara Geddes, Elsie Burnside and Ava Beens won the 2020 title. They put in a commanding display, beating Kavanagh College in the semis 247.5 to 243. In the finals, they were even stronger, exhibiting a majestic performance to beat a well-organised Otago Girls' High School side, winning 249.5 to 246.5. The team (St Hilda's 2) have debated together for two years, and this year's win is a result of team chemistry and a strong commitment to each other's success.

In addition, Elsie Burnside was joint fifth best speaker for the entire competition alongside Eliabel Legrand, a member of St Hilda's other junior debating team.
