A selection of Junior Art by Isla Huffadine

HOD Report - Arts

The fourth term in the arts is always an exciting time, as the labour of a full year comes to fruition in the form of performances, recitals and folios. For the staff and the senior students, at least, there is a sense of finality as work is filmed, recorded, stuck down and sent for assessment. Such are the rituals and rhythms of the creative process.

The value of the art is greater than the grades, however, and this is no more apparent than when the rooms become the preserve of the junior students and their work expands to fill the void, and sometimes a bit more. Voices and instruments continue to ring out and the pace of life is no less frenetic.

On Service Day, the elves work hard printing, drawing and painting to produce brightly coloured wrapping paper and cards, adding a festive final touch to a productive term.
