Tolcarne News

And we are back! After a great holiday break everyone is refreshed and recharged for another term - of course with a lot of energy and excitement to be seeing friends again too! We hope that the rest of our St Hilda's community enjoyed a restful few weeks, spending time with special people.

It was all go from day one, with the girls coming back in on Sunday and Monday evenings. Come Tuesday, we had a candle making workshop for our junior students. The girls were lucky enough to have one of our old girls, (Emma Frampton) come in and show them how to make the perfect candle! We were able to try out all of her gear, selecting various scents to go in the cute turquoise jars. A massive thank you to Emma for coming in and helping us with this activity

For Koru this week the Year 10 students completed their 'warm fuzzies'. Each girl wrote in the warm fuzzy notebooks, sharing a feel good message or something they felt grateful for from one another. They received their notebooks back before bed, with everyone taking the time to read their cute messages - such a nice way to end the evening, with very full hearts! On Wednesday night the Year 9 girls watched half of the movie 'Inside Out'. It was interesting to see the different emotions within the film, which was paused right in the most intense part!! Next week the girls will finish the movie and complete activities based around what we watched.

On Thursday we were lucky enough to have our new Yoga instructor start her sessions! The girls are looking forward to starting their yoga classes again, which are a great way to wind down at the end of a busy day.

Looking ahead to next week we have our Country Visits. Robyn and Ange are looking forward to meeting lots of prospective boarding students, showing them more of what Tolcarne has to offer. We also have our dinner swap with Otago Boys, which is always a fun night. Tolcarne is hosting the junior boys and our senior girls will get to experience a dinner at their hostel!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Mothers Day on Sunday (however this may look in your family), celebrating the special 'mother' figures in your lives  Well done on completing the first week back for Term 2 - woohoo see you all on Monday
