Tolcarne News
Kia ora Tolcarne whanau. What a week...! Perhaps this could have been our busiest week of the year, filled with all sorts of activities, events and farewelling our senior students to head on exam leave.
We kicked off the weekend with a beach trip. The junior surfing lesson was unfortunately canceled due to large swells, however this didn't stop a trip to the beach, complete with ice creams
On Sunday we held one of our favourite events, the Grandparents High Tea. Robyn had been busy planning for months in advance, ensuring the event would be a success! With the help of Barb and her kitchen team, Robyn's vision came to life.
Each table was decorated with such detail, complete with cake stands, tea, pink lemonade and special tea sets brought in from many of our staff. Robyn even made crab apple jam and potted cute flowers for each grandparent to take home.
We loved welcoming our grandparent whanau to Tolcarne, sharing many laughs over cups of tea and delicious treats. This is always a fabulous event and we were grateful to have a dining room full of special people See here for a video about our afternoon.
Fast forward to Monday and it was time for our first ever Tribe Carnival! This was an afternoon full of Tribe games, racing on the bouncy castle obstacle course, and Mrs Rathbone’s favourite - ‘Douce the Director’...!
We were then treated to a FEAST - with all types of savoury and sweet delights. A few favourites being the bao buns, sushi, sliders, donut wall, lolly table, ice creams, slushies and more!! Very happy people and bellies Well done to Highgate for taking out the overall competition for 2022!
A special thank you to Ziggy for planning such a well thought out and entertaining afternoon Watch our video here for more of an insight into our carnival!
On Tuesday it was another hot day, which called for a pool party after school! With plenty of snacks, it was a great way to cool off and relax in the afternoon.
After school today we are heading to Waihola for the annual Year 9 overnight camp. This is always a highlight and the perfect way to spend time as a year group before the end of term. Mrs Rathbone, Robyn and I are very excited for our favourite activities and can't wait to share what we get up to!
Have a fabulous weekend everyone. All the best to our senior students heading away on study leave and starting exams - we are thinking of you all! Ma tē wā
