A busy start to Term 4...

7 & 8 Water Polo

Our Year 7 and 8 Sharks entered into the South Island Intermediate School Champs on the weekend (28th - 30th October). We have quite a fresh team and it was the first time for some playing full pool, but the team came to their own quickly. Our progress throughout the tournament was evident in our final game with a win over Casebrook A, a team that had beaten us in one of our earlier games. Well done to the players for showing their grit to come 7th out of 11 teams and against some strong Canterbury competition.

A big thanks to coaches Olivia, Tiana and Ted and super mum manager, Jennifer Black and parents who came to support. Also shout out to the Tahuna boys Mac, Eden and Connor for joining our team to make it possible as well as some last minute sign ups, Tui and Evie, if it were not for you we could not have made this happen. Great effort from the rest of the team and showing their dedication to the sport by encouraging their friends to join. Watch this space! The Sharks will be a team to reckon with in the future.

North Zone Athletics

Our 7&8 athletes took part in the North Zone Athletics on Tuesday. All 6 athletes did a fantastic job on the track and field and now we wait to see how many go through to the Otago Primary/intermediate Champs on the 16th November.

Touch

Last weekend the Senior A touch team travelled to Christchurch for a one-day tournament with Rangi Ruru girls high school. This was a great opportunity to play a high-quality secondary school girl's touch team outside our Dunedin competition.

Whilst in Christchurch a group of St Hilda's old girls who were based in Christchurch came together to give the Senior A team another high-quality game for the weekend. One of St Hilda's old girls Abbey Johnston was the Rangi Ruru girl's coach. This gave us a nice connection to the Rangi Ruru team.

The games played were not scored as the purpose of the weekend was development for nationals coming up in December. Although there was no score the Senior A put on display some quality touch and exciting new plays which will continue to be developed leading up to nationals. Overall this trip to Christchurch was a great experience for the Senior A team to further develop and connect with not only each other but strengthen the relationship that we have with Rangi Ruru girls’ high school. This trip is a great development weekend and we hope that it will continue in the future years to come.
