Dear parents and whanau,
Thank you for your assistance and understanding as we moved to a hybrid learning model this week.
The increasing numbers of students away and unwell, certainly justified the move, which has enabled seniors to mix on line learning with workshops and tutorials. This model has worked well for the past few days and staff report high levels of student engagement and a reduction of stress and workload as they deliver the same learning opportunity to all class members, so we are positive this model will be able to continue successfully next week.
Thank you for enabling us to move so quickly and seamlessly to this model of learning. Your positive and affirming messages of support have been heartening and encouraging. We are confident that we will continue to provide excellent learning opportunities for all our students, whether on campus or on line, and we are endeavouring to keep routines as 'normal' as possible for our junior students, whatever that means these days!
The Ministry of Education is still requesting the numbers of new COVID cases each day, so please do keep contacting Donna Madigan so we can meet that obligation, and also get an overall picture of the prevalence of illness and the numbers of absences. This information will inform our next steps and planning for the week of the 28th March.
Staying in the present, however, I hope the online Learning Conversations go well today. They are a critical link in our feedback to whanau and important that our akonga are involved in discussions around their goals and learning for the year.
I hope you have the chance for some quiet time, family time, and are able to take a deep breath over the long weekend.
Nga mihi nui
