Board of Trustees

The Board would like to thank the School community for their support of the Board's mask mandate in the first part of this Term. The aim was straightforward - to keep illness to a minimum, thereby ensuring teaching and learning could continue as close to normal as possible. The result was that absences were noticeably down during what is a critical period of the year for students' learning.

We were pleased to see strong interest for day girl places for 2023, the unfortunate side effect being that some families missed out on a place. The School welcomed new international students for the first time in a while in July. The Board is discussing with the Senior Leadership Team on how the School should develop this aspect of the school roll.

Parents will be aware of the initiative to restrict student access to mobile phones during the school day. The Board is very supportive of this initiative and has been briefed by the Senior Leadership Team on their implementation plans.

The Board's triennial election was held this past term and we have welcomed Carthika Luxmanan, Ryan Priemus and Gretchen Beardmore to the Board. Over the course of future newsletters, members of the Board will write a short introductory profile so that our St Hilda's community know a little more about their Board members. On behalf of the Board and the School community, I would like to record very grateful thanks to outgoing Board members, Mike Christie and Roseanne Price-Langsbury. They have given countless hours of their time to the School, which has benefited greatly from their professional expertise in many ways.

Early next term the Board will be having its annual strategic planning meeting and I look forward to reporting on that in a future newsletter. In the meantime, on behalf of the Board, may I wish you and your families a relaxing and restful school holiday break, hopefully with some good spring weather.
