Health - Gemma Cowie

During Term 3, our Health classes have explored topics of stereotypes, sexuality, and social media. We have discussed how these topics interrelate and affect our hāuora, with a particular focus on strategies that can be used to improve our hāuora when negative influences are being felt. We then examined how these topics have influenced and shaped some of our individual and societal norms with Aotearoa me Te Wai Pounamu and abroad.

Food and Nutrition - Kat Harpur

This term our learners have learnt more about social influences on their eating habits, the need for sustainable food systems, safe cooking practices and, of course, healthy eating and nutritional requirements for teens.

While we have had a big drive towards cooking healthier foods and exploring dietary alternatives, we have also balanced things out with a bit of sweetness, after all, according to Oscar Wilde, “everything in moderation, including moderation.”
