Weekly News Term 3 Week 8

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It has been a positive week as we have settled students back into school and established those all important routines and systems that give us all a sense of belonging and security. While we have had chapels in our whanau groups and smaller assemblies, we have also enjoyed having a week focused on learning, knowing that others around us share the same goals. Students are well prepared for the weeks ahead, with seniors concentrating on Benchmark examinations in a couple of weeks time.

Looking ahead to Term 4 we have been able to confirm some dates as we work around the revised timetable for NCEA, curriculum commitments and organised school events. We have had to abandon our traditional timelines and timings, practices and systems which has been both challenging and enlightening - nothing like having to find different ways of doing things to really test our beliefs, traditions and what is most important to us. We have worked hard to ensure we have not lost any of the unique events that enhance our students' learning and our sense of community.

Mrs Maw has more detail further on in this bulletin, but I did want to signal the following:

28th October - St Hilda's Day. Because of possible restrictions this service will be for students and staff only. Our senior students will have a staggered departure with different year groups leaving on different days.

5th November - last day for Year 13 students

8-12th November - Flexi learning week with tutorials, workshops, itime and some scheduled classes for all senior students

- Year 10 camp

 - Year 7-9 timetabled classes

12th November - last day for year 12 students

16th November - last day for year 11 students

19th November - Senior prizegiving 1.30pm - Leavers Service and dinner 6.00pm

22nd November - NCEA begins

7th December - Junior prizegiving - will be held in the morning, time to be confirmed. Last day for Year 7-10 students.

We look forward to sharing many of these special events with you, alert levels permitting.
