Tolcarne News

Kia ora Tolcarne whanau! It was great to have a full hostel again, with our senior students back from Tournament Week. There was great success for all teams, which was well deserved after a long season dedicated to their sports. Ka pai everyone

It was highly exciting on Monday night, with snow flurries and seeing a blanket of white settling outside. There were snow balls thrown, snowmen made and the anticipation of a potential late start. It's fair to say hearing that school wasn't starting until Period 3 put a smile on a few faces - getting to enjoy the warmth of bed and snow for a little longer! With the sun out the snow didn't last long, however it was great fun to enjoy and play outside in for a few hours

Our Tuesday after school activity was jewellery making. We had a collection of various beads, charms and coloured elastic, all ready to be turned into bracelets and phone charms. The Year 9s did a fabulous job of designing different items, with the Year 10s and some senior students joining in on the crafts!

On Wednesday evening we had Year 9 Koru, finishing our unit on 'fear'. During this session the students each had to randomly select what activity they were going to take part in... with the options being 'Iron Toes', 'Baby, Baby, Baby', 'Egg Roulette' and 'Worms...'

There were ice buckets, secret baby food samples, different types of 'worms' in mystery bags and of course the roulette of getting a raw or boiled egg cracked on your head!!

This session was a lot of fun, with plenty of laughs! Everyone did so well, being brave and having to take a risk with the 'unknown'! A special shout out to the few who got an egg cracked on their head - however I have heard it is great for getting shiny hair!

On Friday Mrs Rathbone, Isla, Xanthe and Sophie were down at the Z Club Pink Ribbon Breakfast. The Zonta Club did a fantastic job of creating such a successful event, with many boarding students involved in the group! There are a few familiar faces in the video here. Well done everyone, we loved our breakie - sooo many delicious options and for a fantastic cause

We hope you all have a fabulous weekend, with plenty of sunshine and positive vibes  Ma tē wā
