Covid-19 Alert Level 2 at St Hilda’s
It is likely that we will continue to go in and out of Covid Alert Levels, often at short notice.
Below are the protocols surrounding Covid Level 2 at St Hilda’s. Please remember, as we are a ‘bubble’, normal teaching and learning should not be affected. However, we ask that you are aware of and observe the following as soon as a Covid Level 2 alert is announced.
- If your child is unwell, please have them stay home
- If your child, or any close family member, has been:
- at or near a known Covid place of interest, OR
- has been in close contact with someone who has been in a Covid Contact place of interest OR
- in contact with a Covid case,
please, self - isolate for at least 72 hours. Please seek medical advice, including a Covid test, if necessary. Contact your child’s Dean to arrange work for any periods of absence.
At school:
- All students are asked to bring their own small bottle of hand sanitiser and this should be used regularly - there is a refill station at school
- Sanitise hands regularly throughout the school day, particularly when finishing with shared equipment, or when entering or leaving a classroom
- Regular hand washing is also encouraged for at least 20 seconds
- Students should cough into their elbows
- Use contactless greetings such as a smile and a wave
- Where practicable, stay out of the ‘breath zone’ of others both during class time and breaks
- Face coverings are not required at school. However, students and staff may choose to wear face coverings if desired.
When directed and where possible:
- Students should sit a metre apart in classrooms
- They should sit at the same seat each lesson
- No equipment should be shared between students
Also:
- The student kitchen will be shut in Covid Level 2
- The canteen will remain open and social distancing observed in the queue
- Extra cleaning of high touch surfaces will occur
- Contact tracing will be available via our school attendance system, should the need arise
- All visitors to the school are required to sign in and Covid trace. Only those who are essential to learning should visit the school while at Level 2
- Students are required to wear face coverings on public transport
Our key message is stay safe and take care of each other. We're asking everyone - staff and students - to be responsible for safe hygiene practices at school and travelling to and from school. We all need to see safety as a package of practices, not just one thing.
Thank you for your support.
