Netball South Zone Tournament

A great tournament for our Junior Netball teams!

Last Sunday and Monday our Junior 10A and 9A competed in a 2 day tournament here in Dunedin for the Netball South Zone. Both teams had early starts on Sunday against Dunstan and Mt Aspiring but the girls were up for the early morning challenge.  Once the nerves had settled, the girls took out both matches.  This set them up for a great day with both teams going 3 for 3.  Monday saw them finish off their play off rounds and our 10A headed to the final against Southland Girls High and the 9A played Waitaki girls for 3rd and 4th.

After a tight first half, the 10A team took control of the game and comfortably beat Southland 47-30. The team showed great patience on attack, tight defense in the circle and consistent shooting. The 9A came was closer on the score board but watching you knew that the girls had it in the bag. A defensive effort from the team picked up some great ball which the shooters put through the hoop, winning 27-21. Well done to all the girls that took the court and a pick thank you to the coaches, managers and parents that were able to help on the bench and live stream some games!

Congratulations to the following girls who made the talented players group: Hannah O'Connor, Ruby Flannery, Ella Southby, Demi McAlwee, Billie Crowe, Laura Ring and Lucy Taylor.
