Library News

We got some very exciting news this week when the PFA generously offered to fund our eBook and Audiobook platform for another year. If you haven’t yet checked out the platform, then perhaps this weekend would be a nice time to sit down with your young readers and take a look. With nearly 1,900 eBooks and nearly 900 audiobooks there should be something for everyone!

Last year our community had 1,579 total loans, which adds up to a lot of reading and listening. We currently have just under 200 active borrowers who are enthusiastically embracing the opportunity to expand their literary options.

Students have been sent an email with instructions on how to access the books, and here are the links again if you would like to see everything for yourself:

  1. Go to our library page and log in there to browse, read, and listen. (This link can also be found on the school library catalogue page, which students can access from their home page.)

  1. For the best reading and listening experience I recommend that students download the app: ePlatform by Wheelers Book. You can find links here. This will allow students to download the audiobooks and listen offline.

To sign in either way:

User name: 5 digit student number

Password: SHCS1

I encourage all students and caregivers to come talk to me in the library or email me if they have any questions! There are also signs up in the foyer and a link to instructions on our school library catalogue page.

Please remember that we do not set year level or age restrictions on which books your students are able to borrow, so encourage them to choose carefully and to discuss it with you if they do happen to come across anything that they feel isn't comfortable or appropriate for them.

Thank you again to the PFA for their continued support for the library and their contribution to the reading culture at SHCS.

Have a lovely weekend, Carrie Bouffard
