Mrs Rust with her award for 40 years in boarding by Isla Huffadine

Tolcarne News

Our first week is now completed for Term 4, and for the Year 13's - their last week of Term 4 ever!

We hope you all had an amazing break with family and friends, and got to enjoy some of the sunny weather. We are now back into the swing of things at Tolcarne, with lots of exciting events coming up for the girls to look forward to (One may be our Christmas dinner by the looks of the impressive Christmas tree!)

This week we had the Year 12 Boarding Leaders chat to the Year 11 girls about what they have enjoyed in the Boarding Leader role, and also what they have found challenging. Our Year 11 students apply for this 2021 position by the end of October.

Dotty and Beth also spoke to the Year 12 girls about being a Head Boarder in 2021. They shared their highlights and a few good learning moments with the students. It's an exciting time of the year for our Year 12's, starting to think about next year and the prospect of what it may hold.

The staff also celebrated Mrs Rust, as she was recognised by the New Zealand Boarding Schools Association for 40 years in boarding. This is an incredible achievement and we feel very lucky to have her as part of our team. It wouldn't be Tolcarne without her smiling face and humour at the front desk each morning! Well deserved Reany

We have also started up an instagram account for the hostel - which you may be interested in following to keep more up to date with what we are up to! This week we followed a 'morning in the life of a boarder', showing photos of what the girls were up to in the morning. If you would like to have a look, our username is tolcarne_sthildas. Attached are some photos from the 'morning in the life' post

This weekend the junior girls are heading paddle boarding, which will no doubt be a lot of fun and provide a few laughs. Have a lovely weekend and remember juniors, this is a good time to get planning your Hawaiian social outfits!
