Tolcarne News

Another short week is complete, we are getting used to only having four school days now  There has however been lots going on, from activities to internals being due, and of course a week full of all things Easter!

The rugby score may not have swung in our favor on Friday evening, however the outing was a success! The large group of girls headed off with Bridget and Tammy, making the most out of watching the game and also socialising with the other boarding schools!

On Saturday morning we headed out to St Clair, ready to take on another surfing lesson. With most girls feeling more prepared the second time around, each group headed out into the waves. We even had a friendly face come and pay us a visit, a seal... This caused some shrieks and excitement from the group, however he didn't take a fancy to us and carried on down the beach! A big thank you to the Esplanade Surf School for having us, always providing many laughs and making the girls feel at ease

During the weekend a group of Year 10s decided to create their own take on the show 'My Kitchen Rules'. They headed off into town in search of their key ingredients, before returning for the big cook off! All of the creations were amazing, with Ruby and Eve taking out the overall competition. As well as prizes for all, these two get to help Barb in the kitchen one weekend, planning what dessert they would like to cook for the whole hostel! Well done to all of the girls involved, such creativity to think of your own competition

Our Tribe Dinner on Monday evening looked slightly different... Easter decorations were strung from the roof, with the famous Easter Bunny greeting everyone at the serving area. The bunny (who also looked slightly like our chef Ross..) served up a delicious roast ham, chicken and lots of other goodies for dinner. This was followed up by a themed dessert and even a special delivery from the bunny himself! We would like to give massive shout out to Ross and the kitchen team. The care and effort you all put in for these themed evenings does not go unnoticed, always going above and beyond expectations! We are also lucky that Ross loves dressing up for us, I think this was his best costume yet

Korero this week for the Year 11 students focussed on a discussion around comfort, stretch and panic zones. The girls spoke about encouraging change and not creating restrictions for themselves. At the end of the session the group participated in two small skits, demonstrating the comfort and stretch zones. It is great to see the Year 11 students being vulnerable and open to this great opportunity, facilitated by Ziggy and Ross.

On Tuesday we attempted some Easter baking - keeping with the theme for the week! The junior girls made cupcakes, filled with gooey mini egg centers and all sorts of creations on top! Delicious

During Tuesday night Prep, Easter crafts were underway with Robyn, Cassidy and Olivia. They taught the girls how to make cute card bunnies, filled with even more goodies to take home  Maybe you will be lucky enough to be gifted one this Easter!

And then come Wednesday we had our final activity... the Easter Hunt! Excitement levels were high, with the girls racing around the hostel, climbing trees, hunting through the gardens, all in search of colourful eggs and one of the few golden bunnies  With big smiles all round, I don't know how long these impressive amounts of chocolate treats will last for  Thanks to those involved with our week of Easter activities, lots of planning goes on behind the scenes - we appreciate it
