SISS Tournament Week

Volleyball: Our Senior A Volleyball team attended the SISS Satellite Tournament in Christchurch last week. It has been a couple of years since the team has gone away on tournament, so the girls were excited to get the experience.  Our first game against Roncalli went to 5 sets, so it was a great introduction to the competition and tested the girls composure.

The team went onto play, Rangiora New Life School, Burnside and Rolleston in pool play. On the last day we made it through to the semi final against Kaikoura. Once again the team found themselves heading into a 5 set match and lost by 2 points. It was a great game and could've gone either way. After the initial disappointment the team rallied for the 3/4th playoff and took the game against Mountain view in 3 straight sets.

The Senior A is losing 7 Year 13 players after this year, so it was a wonderful week away and the team played some awesome volleyball with their skills always improving and the enthusiasm from the girls was excellent.

Rowing: Last week the rowing squad travelled up north to Lake Karapiro, competing in the week long Maadi cup. All of our crew perform exceptionally well and I am so proud of everyone's efforts. A special shout out to the U16 quad, U15 octi and novice quad who all reached A finals. The novice quad also placed 3rd in the South Island, along with U15 octi. All of the girls' efforts were amazing and everyone held their heads up high all week. (Pippa Fulton).

Water Polo: 11 senior water polo players headed away to Christchurch for 4 days of intense water polo. It was a tough tournament. Although we may not have made the top three, and although the finishing score lines were not in our favour, the team played hard, learnt a lot and put their hearts and souls into every game.
