This week is sport.....

This week had a familiar tone to it, lots of planning to only have events cancelled. Luckily it was only for a short time.

Despite the change in Alert Levels we did see our Senior A Volleyball team start their season, Cricket got underway, Otago Secondary School Tennis Champs were able to continue, 7 girls took part in a Clay Trap Shooting give a go day and the Challenge Wanaka event went ahead on Thursday. We look forward to hearing how our girls go and that of our Touch team, who will participate in the Otago Touch Secondary School Champs in the weekend.

Physio Treatment now available:

Our onsite physio has started back up this week.  This is a fantastic asset for the school and students to have access too.  It means our girls are getting great treatment for injuries and on going rehab, it's onsite so no travelling and more time out of class.  For anyone that is needing treatment, please see the student office to make your booking.  A big thank you to Roslyn Physio for helping is provide this service.

Congratulations to:

Lucia Luxton: Lucia has made the NZ Development Diving Squad.

Hannah Langsbury: Hannah has been selected in the NZ Youth Maori Football Team and also been named to trial for the NZ U17 Girls teams.

Brooke McAlwee: Brooke was invited to the Touch Blacks Camp in January and has since been selected to play for the Touch Blacks in the Homegrown Series.

Emma McKay, Gemma Rowcroft & Grace Southby:  All three girls attended the NZ Secondary School Development Camp in January.

Well done to everyone on your achievements.

Sporting Moment of the week:

Each week we will celebrate a sporting moment from our sport teams. Since most sport is still getting underway, I thought I would share two sporting moments...

Here is Year 13 Molly Loe, playing for NZ U19 Cricket team vs NZ Police. She is calling for a wicket in which she bowled to current White Fern and NZ Police Captain, Katie Perkins and was caught by former SHCS student Olivia Gain as wicketkeeper. A great shot and moment for our two girls. (pic above)
