Tolcarne News

Happy Friday everyone! It has been an interesting few days,  with Dunedin heading back into Level 2 Lockdown and then out again. There were some changes for us up here at Tolcarne and the girls took these on board with ease. We would like to thank you for your patience around contact tracing, temperatures being taken on arrival and the wellness forms. With your positive support we were able to get through this time seamlessly, with a smile

The girls have been getting creative at breakfast time, making all sorts of amazing looking options. Check out these impressive smoothies Anna and Maddie put together in their coconut bowls! I can't wait to see what delicious creations will be made this weekend

On Saturday a group of girls headed out in the van to Moeraki. This was a new place for many of our students, who enjoyed the scenic journey and opportunity to see the boulders! They also completed a photo challenge, various games, enjoyed a packed lunch and of course finished with an ice cream  This was a fantastic day out with warm weather (some girls even taking a dip in the sea!).

Sunday was Valentines Day, meaning a lot of the girls were out with their friends and special people. The juniors got creative, decorating cupcakes in all shades of red and pink, topped with sparkles and sprinkles to complete the Valentines Day look. A big thanks to the kitchen team and Robyn for organising such a fun activity for a Sunday afternoon

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we had to cancel our first Tribe Dinner on Monday. However, Ziggy came up with a different way for the students to vote for their Tribe Captains. The girls who wanted to put their names forward created videos that were sent out for voting. These were very creative I must say, lots of enthusiasm and of course Tribe colours. It isn't easy putting yourself out there in front of your peers, so well done to everyone involved.

On Thursday evening the Year 9 girls had their first Night Prayers session with Dr Townsley. This was a lovely way to introduce how we incorporate our St Hilda's Special Character into Tolcarne life. The group created their booklets and reflected on the day, made even more enjoyable by the sun streaming into the lounge. A special mention to the Year 13 buddies, who came along to join the girls during their first Night Prayers

Sports have been getting well underway, with a lot of our girls picking up golf as their new activity! It is great to see so many students giving something new a go, wanting to challenge themselves further. Well done to everyone who was involved in Touch during the weekend, it sounds like you had a fantastic time away as a group!
