St Hilda's Collegiate School

Mālo ni, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Kia orāna, Tālofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Talofa, Noa'ia, Ni sa bula vinaka, Mauri, Tēnā koutou katoa and warm greetings to you all this Pacific languages week.

The Senior Formal last Friday night was a lovely occasion. The students who attended were positive, respectful and keen to have a lovely evening, and it was a pleasure to share the experience with them. I would like to thank the Formal Committee, for their hard work leading up to the event, and their commitment to putting together an event everyone could enjoy.

The Chapel is progressing very well and we have our fingers crossed that we will be enjoying this special space again in Term 3. Watching the carpet go down this week has made it feel very real.

Our House Captains are working hard to get their houses ready for our first Haka competition. This is down for Week 9 and I am looking forward to seeing their performances.

As you know at St Hilda's we enjoy working with Parent Advisory Groups, (PAG) who meet to discuss and brainstorm key concepts and initiatives for the further enhancement and development of the education we provide for our students using the Appreciative Inquiry model. The group's input has been invaluable in helping shape our thinking for the future, bouncing ideas and proposals and sharing ideas.

All parents and caregivers are welcome to join these groups and assist us with our strategic planning and have input into the future of the school.

With that in mind we are continuing to develop systems and strategies to support our students' development, with a focus on our graduate attributes and how they can best be developed and made relevant to our students. Alongside of this we are keen to hear your thoughts on how we can get a sense of how our students are developing these skills and attributes and ways we can see progress and build on it.

We will be using the Appreciative Inquiry model, which focuses on being reflective and understanding our current strengths.

We would value your input as parents and as such invite you to join our Parent Advisory Group on Thursday 15th June at 5.00pm in the Library. Please RSVP to admin@shcs.school.nz by 12th June for catering purposes.
