Library News

This month of June marks a celebration of Pride across the country. Here in the library, our wonderful students in the QSA have helped to create a dazzling display promoting a superb range of Rainbow Literature. Students have engaged positively with our displays and are enjoying sharing Pride stickers with one another while making book recommendations to their peers.

Many of our titles under the Rainbow umbrella are written by American author David Levithan. Well known for such titles as Everyday and Will Grayson, Will Grayson, Levithan aims “to give a voice to a lot of readers out there, and also to introduce a lot of readers to voices that are not their own.”

The books in our library are a vehicle for self-discovery and learning. In a world where ruthless individualism is too often prioritised over empathy for the vulnerable, books continue to provide opportunities for personal growth. Take the opportunity to grow. Open a book!

Then she meets Ollie, a cute volunteer who she has a lot in common with. Could this be the start of something, or will her mum, who doesn’t seem to know what boundaries are, embarrass her before she and Ollie have a chance?
