As you may be aware, Hukarere Girls’ College in Eskdale Hawkes’ Bay was devastated during the recent Cyclone Gabrielle. The boarding students, who make up 80% of the school, were given twenty minutes to pack a small bag and leave. They have lost everything.

Your child has been asked to donate one small personal item to contribute to a care package for a student from Hukarere. Such items could be a lip balm, chocolate/sweet treat, stationery, or personal toiletry items. Just something that will gladden Hukarere’s Girls’ hearts and make them smile.

We would like these items given to your child’s Whanaungatanga teacher by the end of next week, March 31st, so we can get them to Hawkes Bay.

Any extra packages will be donated to Woodford House in Havelock North. Although the school was unaffected, students, many of whom hail from Gisborne way, have had their homes and areas badly affected.
