Tolcarne News

Kia ora Tolcarne whānau. It was a short school week, with Otago Anniversary Day and Whanaungatanga Conversations. This was welcomed due to the stormy weather, with everyone keeping cosy and warm inside the hostel!

On Tuesday we were straight back into our after school activities. Touch was canceled, so the activities room was packed. We had a go at making the 'viral Tiktok pods', which are a take on the classic chocolate 'pod' that are no longer sold. The process involved baking cookie dough in a semi circle mould, filling these with caramel and topping with chocolate  It was certainly a sugar overload, but a successful Tiktok recipe that we would recommend if you have a sweet tooth! See the video here for a behind the scenes look

Year 10 Koru this week was based around the 'Line Game'. Robyn and I asked a variety of "step up to the line if...." questions, where students would stand up to the line if they agreed with the statement. They showed vulnerability throughout this activity, really leaning into the challenge and the different emotions felt throughout. We were impressed with how the Year 10s got involved and were open to sharing their opinions on different topics

The Year 9s carried on making their 'Life Maps' this week. The session involved choosing significant life events to include, adding colour, personalisation and even photos. We look forward to sharing these in the upcoming weeks, getting to know even more about one another.

Take a look at Robyn after her fabulous makeover from some of the juniors. She is looking runway ready, with the dark eye makeup being my personal favourite
