Toua te mauri o te kura nei!

Recently, our kura has been working hard to learn the actions and words of our sacred school Haka - Hākuiao. Year 13 students have been taking leadership in these sessions by karanga (calling) and teaching the younger ākonga the movements.

We also ended our last session by splitting the school into house groups and having a mini haka competition. The volume and mana (pride) that the students had during this session was awesome. Each session is building confidence in the students more and more - we can't wait to see our love and pride for our school haka grow.

A special moment for the school was performing the Haka in Ms Turner's farewell assembly. It was a moving, special moment for all. A thank you needs to go to Kiringāua Cassidy, who wrote our school haka.
