Tolcarne News

Hi everyone, we hope the start of Level 3 is going well for you all.

This week there has been some incredible photos entered into the photo competition. The captured sunsets from across the region were very impressive, along with crazy dress up shots! It was great to see the seniors' creativity with their Zentangle drawings - well done girls

Ziggy also celebrated her Birthday 'isolation' style last week. The girls put together a special birthday video and Ross made a pretty spectacular cake (that can be seen below).

Head Boarders message:

Last week Beth and I had a meeting with Tolcarne council girls and discussed the feedback they gathered from their year groups. We were keen to find out what the girls were enjoying about being at home, what they were missing about Tolcarne, how they were feeling about the situation and what they would like to see from their Head Boarders during this time.

We got lots of positive feedback from the girls. It came through very strongly the girls were enjoying time on the farm, time with family, sleep ins, home cooked meals and exercising. The girls expressed the thing they were missing the most was each other and constantly being with the “sisters”, they were also missing sports, going into town and of course the staff. The girls on a whole were feeling pretty good about the situation and were all glad about the lockdown showing a positive impact, but of course feeling disappointed around different opportunities that have been taken away from them.

The year thirteen girls have especially been feeling a range of emotions as this is precious time we are missing out on being with each other but understanding what we are doing is important. Because it is our last year of being at Tolcarne, the girls feel quite dissapointed we aren’t able to be there together to make the most of it. Although, they are still able to make the most of it by getting involved and contributing to activities in our bubbles such as the Tolcarne Tribe competition.

Many girls have been finding online learning a little different which is completely understandable and all looking forward to getting back to the hostel and back into the normal routines. The feedback Beth and I gathered around what we could do during this time was very positive, showing the girls have been thoroughly enjoying the photo competition and the positive messages. We did get a suggestion of a video about what we have been up to - so watch the space and check out the prefect corner on the virtual school.

Girls, we are so glad to see you have been making the most out of this situation and keeping positive. Keep up the good work and make the most of the time with those in your bubble. Beth and I can’t wait to get back to the hostel and see all the girls and staff again, we have been missing you all like crazy.

See you soon,

Dotti and Beth xxx
