Sports Update

While we were all enjoying a summer break, many of our students were still participating in sporting events. Here is a snapshot of what has happened:

Touch: The Touch team had a fantastic national tournament at the end of 2020.  The girls were in great spirits and exceeded expectations and finished their campaign by finishing 5th.

Cricket: As we finished school in 2020, our Cricket team headed to Palmerston North to compete in the Gillette Venus Cup Nationals. After some close loses our girls finished 6th.  Congratulations to Molly Loe who has been selected for the first every NZ U19 team.

Rowing: Over the summer break, our rowers have been attending training camps and regattas in Twizel.  The team are working towards the upcoming SISS and Maadi Cup in March.  Well done to the U15 Octuple team who finished 3rd at the recent South Island Club Champs.

Athletics:  In December, the NZ Secondary School National Athletics took place.  Congrats to Top ten finishes by Renee Willis, Sarah Langsbury, Gabi Horo, Billie Crowe and Zara Geddes.

Well done to Emma McKay, Renee, Sarah, Gabi and Billie for recently being selected for the Otago Athletics Squad.

Multisport:  Last weekend Sophie Shallard, Anna and Sophie Hutchens competed at the Ruby Open Water event in Wanaka.

Sophie S: 1st Female and 4th overall in the 2.5km race

Anna: 1st Female and 1st overall in the 1.2km race

Sophie H: 4th Female and 5th overall in the 1.2km race.

I am sure there were many more achievements over the summer break so well done to you all.
