Tolcarne News

And we are back for 2021!

Wow it seems like we had just wrapped up Term 4 for 2020, and now we are back, ready for another action packed year. We hope you all had the most amazing Christmas break with your special people, enjoying relaxing moments, creating memories and recharging the batteries for this year.

On Saturday we welcomed back our Year 13s. They spent time together as a year group, completed 'buddy training' and had a big BBQ dinner in the sunshine around the pool. On Sunday our newest Tolcarne girls joined us, ready to embark on their St Hilda's journey. We were very excited for the girls to arrive and they have been enjoying a range of activities to get to know each other and Dunedin.

On Monday their activity involved a tour around the city, accompanied by some stunning summer weather! They navigated their way to the mall (oh so important for the weekends ), visited St Paul's Cathedral and finished their trip with a frozen coke - perfect for the heat! On the way home the group learnt how to use the bus hub and which route/bus number they would need to use in order to get home in the future.

Throughout the rest of the week everyone has been getting used to their new year group spaces, privileges and just enjoying being back with all of their friends

On Thursday evening we held our annual Year 13 Leaders Dinner. This was a lovely opportunity to celebrate our newest Year 13s, with an extended invitation to all parents and our guest speaker - Megan Crawford. Jodie and her kitchen team created an absolute feast, with a desert that honestly looked like a work of art! We are excited for this group of students to venture into their final year as leaders of Tolcarne and the wider community - bring on 2021!

This weekend our junior girls will be participating in the Waitangi Day Boarding Games, along with the other Dunedin boarding school students. This is a great opportunity for the younger group to meet pupils from other schools and create new friendships! It is always a fun day out, hopefully we have good weather to top it off

We hope you all have a fabulous long weekend, relaxing and enjoying time with friends and family. See you all on Monday afternoon
