The Arts Department

Welcome to Lisa Parsons as our new Arts Coordinator.

Hello! I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Arts Coordinator for 2021. My name is Lisa Parsons and I have moved from our International Department to join the brilliant Arts team as Katie Mangai will be finishing at the end of week 3 to focus on her studies. I am looking forward to getting to know you and being part of your journey here at St Hilda’s. Embrace 2021, it’s going to be an exciting year with lots to be involved in!

Music Opportunities all ready to go for 2021!

This week students in Years 7, 8 and 9 attended the annual concert put on by our Itinerant Music Teachers. This concert enables junior students to see various instruments in action and consider which instrument/s they might like to play this year!

Itinerant Music Lessons form part of the music curriculum at school and lessons fit in around regular classes on a rotating timetable so as to provide minimum disruption. Learning an instrument from Year 7, 8 or 9 gives students the best opportunity to succeed in NCEA music later on should they choose to pursue this. As well as this, all students can be confident that learning an instrument is highly likely to have a positive impact not only on their well being but also on their academic achievement in STEM and other subjects (supporting research here). Winning on all fronts!

Students at all levels are invited to complete Music Opportunities at St Hilda's 2021 online form. Please see Mr Potter or Lisa Parsons (Arts Coordinator) if you have any questions.
