EPro8 Success - Third Place 🥉

St Joseph's Pleasant Point —

We are extremely proud of our EPro8 team who punched well above their weight to achieve third placing in the South Island final of the EPro8 competition. Albie Armstrong, Libby Fennessy, Malachi Hardacre and Molly Boult competed in the Year 5/6 division.

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 25,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part.Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school. These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving.

We competed in Timaru for the South Canterbury inter-school event taking out 1st place. The team then went on to place 3rd in the regional semi-final in Ashburton earlier this month.

After a fight until the bitter end our team managed to claw their way up to third position and secure bronze in the final held in Christchurch yesterday. This is a huge achievement when you think they are competing against schools of 500+ students.

Addington School took out first place and St Martin's School in second place (both from Christchurch).

This event is sponsored by organisations such as AUT (Auckland and Waikato University School of Engineering so it is seen as really big deal!

We would like to extend a huge congratulations to the team members . Also thank you to the many supporters through each of the stages. Huge thanks to the parents who took time out to transport and support our team; Richard Boult, Lucy Fennessy and Miranda Armstrong.
