NO PARKING ON THE GRASS OPPOSITE THE SCHOOL GATE!

St Joseph's —

Last week we had a near miss, where a small child ran across the road to a waiting parent and was nearly hit by a car - despite a heap of adults yelling to him.

It is illegal to park on the grass opposite the school gate (on Khan Street).  There are yellow no parking lines on the side of the road; but more importantly we do not want children having to cross the road in the busy traffic of school pick-ups and drop-offs.  Buses and cars coming around the corner don't always see your child coming out from behind your car in time to stop.  Also if you park along that side of the road, there is very little room for the school buses to maneovure between you, and the cars parked in the angle parking on the school side of the road.

Please remember that there is no parking on the bus stops before and after school. Please drop your children either on Afghan Street (in front of the school), or Kabul Street (behind the school); so that the children can walk around the footpath without crossing the road.  We recommend that you walk with your younger children.

Also please do not park in front of the large gate into the school (at the end of the angle parking). This space needs to be free for emergency vehicles (and the buses cannot get past safely when you park there).

If you are picking your child up after school, please come inside the gate and wait for them under the shade structure.  Do not wait outside for them to come to you.
