St Joseph's Day

On Wednesday the 19th of March we celebrated St Joseph’s Day. Not only is Saint Joseph the namesake of our school, he is well known for being the husband of Mary and the earthly Father of Jesus. Children enjoyed a sausage sizzle to mark the occasion and our three classes gathered together in the afternoon to work collaboratively on a mural for our assembly room. We discussed the two main symbols that represent Joseph, which can be seen in the mural photograph. The white lilies symbolise purity and innocence. It is also said that Joseph's staff bloomed into lilies, signifying God's choice of him to marry Mary. The tools represent his occupation of carpentry and his role as a provider for his family. It’s always lovely gathering together and working on a task that the whole school can participate in. It was a very successful St Joseph’s Day here at St Joseph’s.
