Principal's Message: Term 4, 2024

Barbara Bowen —

The theme for this second half of 2024 has been one of connections for our Kāhui Ako.

This has looked like building and sustaining effective connections within our own Kāhui Ako around Relationship Based Learning, Early Childhood and Intermediate/Secondary Transitions, Curriculum,  Attendance and Learning Support, as well as building new connections with other Kāhui Ako in the region and across New Zealand to expand our horizons beyond what we already know and do.

In 2023 we connected our Literacy, Aotearoa NZ histories and Maths leaders to develop our own teaching and learning Pathways from ECE to Year 13 in these curriculum areas. With the review of the review of Te Mātaiaho dominating our spaces in 2024, it has been difficult to properly launch and embed these Pathways in our schools BUT our upcoming Staff Only Day on November 11th will be an amazing opportunity to re-look at and refresh this work in line with the (hopefully) finalised English and Mathematics Curriculum documents. Bringing us together for a morning to work together acknowledges and celebrates the value we place on providing the very best learning experiences for the ākonga in our kura and ensures the connections we have built will never be frayed. I look forward to seeing you there.
