Pathways to Success

Kirstin Goomes —

Learning pathways serve as a tool for educators to ensure that each step of a student's learning journey is intentional, ensuring that learning is not left to chance.

Thanks to the combined mahi from ASTS, Across School Curriculum group representatives and ImpactEd, the Stoke Tahunanui Kāhui Ako Curriculum Pathways for Literacy, Numeracy and Aotearoa New Zealand Histories are live and ready for the first stage of implementation.

The pathways are informed by our Kāhui Ako data, Te Whāriki, Ngā Kawatau me ngā Tūmanakotanga o Te Tauihu, Te Mātaiaho, the “Literacy Communication & Mathematics Action Plan”, as well as the demands of the Literacy Reading and Writing, and Numeracy CAAs.

The official launch was held at Green Meadows on November 8th and was attended by Principals, ASTS, Across School representatives, and other leaders of learning from every sector in the Kāhui. The AST team outlined the journey so far,  outlining predicted successes and challenges.

Voice was collected from those who attended the hui; this feedback has driven our next steps toward implementation. Looking ahead to 2024, ASTs will be engaging with principals and schools early Term 1 to clarify the purpose of the pathways and answer any questions. We will then look at how these new pathways can support the mahi already happening in our schools and assist in identifying PLD requirements that may arise as engagement increases.

Hard copies of the resource, including A3 copies of each pathway, and a brief ‘How to use the Pathways' guide were presented to each attending kura at the launch and at the Term 4 Early Years hui. Digital access is also available through our Kāhui website.

We look forward to your feedback as you take time to explore these exciting pathways.
