Our Kāhui Ako AST Team and Lead Principal attended the Solutions Focused Masterclass in Coaching at the end of Term 3 to extend and enhance the coaching we do across the Kāhui Ako.

We learnt and practised new coaching skills to add to our kete of coaching during this two course. As our capacity for impact coaching grows across our Kāhui and coaching is being more widely utilised and implemented for different purposes, we can share these new skills and continue to coach ourselves to help teachers and leaders grow.

Utilising the solutions focused model means that teachers are able to focus on their goal by working, in manageable steps, towards their "future perfect" with an understanding of the measurable increments along the way.

Helping teachers and leaders to see their current position and the strengths they already have that will help them is also an important part of coaching in this way.

We came away from an intensive two days of learning and coaching others with an understanding of different ways to coach and with more tools to tailor our coaching to be a responsive coach. We felt privileged to work with the range of teachers and leaders and learnt a lot about excellent facilitation from Jan Hill and Sarah Hynds of The Education Group.
