A Letter to the Community from Room 20
Room 20 share their views on dogs pooping on the school grounds.
Dear Community,
When my class went out to fitness on Monday, we encountered 10+ dog poops that Mr Gordon, our teacher, had to deal with. It also happened again this morning that more doggy poo needed to be collected.
Please remember that you need to clean up after your dog if you are using the school grounds outside school hours. A problem could be that an unlucky student or teacher could step in poo that is left behind. Then, when we go back into the classroom, dog poop would go all over the floor and it is a waste of our precious learning time cleaning it up.
As a solution, we ask all dog owners to be prepared with poo bags because dogs will do their business when they need to. To others out there who don’t own dogs, if you see a dog owner who is not picking up their doggy business, we ask that you remind them to pick it up. It would not be fair to our school staff who clean up after a dog that may or may not be yours.
We've got evidence that a small dog’s owner isn’t picking up their dog’s doo doo. For example: when a parent was dropping off their child with a dog, the dog pooped. One of our school peer mediators spotted the poop and asked the parent to pick it up but the parent said “ Sorry, I don’t have a bag”. See, we have solid evidence so please, please, please pick up your dog’s doo doo. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. ( Note: if your dog poops and you pick it up, please don’t throw it in our school bins and instead, take the doo doos home.)
Yours Truly
