There is snow on the hills!!

Jo Dobson —

Winter is officially here, please take extra care as you move about in the carpark and the outdoor areas on these frosty mornings!

We have had the pleasure of welcoming Suzanne and Tagiilima from the Education Review Office on site over the past two days.

They have shared their initial findings with us which were really positive and we look forward to sharing our report with you.

We have an exciting project in the pipeline to further enhance our wonderful preschool.

As you will know we currently run 2 nursery areas:

Whakanui - this area caters for our younger infants & toddlers

Puawai - this area catering for our older toddlers

While these are two amazing spaces, having the 2 areas separate poses challenges.

We have been discussing this for quite some time at a Governance level and looking at various ways we can sustain and further enhance this.

What we are looking to do is further develop our nursery area and build a wonderful  combined space between the two current areas.

This area will have a dividing wall to continue our current quality practice of safe nurturing spaces for our younger infants and a more challenging environment for our toddlers. It will also have the ability to be opened up to best cater for the age group that are currently in the nursery - and this can change daily.

By placing our new nursery at the heart of our centre it will allow for even better connections throughout the centre with Atawhai and Manaaki.

Atawhai and Manaaki will also gain a little extra space which will be great.

Our architect has drawn up an initial 'footprint' to ensure what we are 'dreaming' about is possible. It looks amazing!!

Financially:

We work really hard to ensure our centre has the best possible resources which are being continually updated, we maintain excellent ratios of experienced and qualified staff, our building and outdoor areas are maintained to a very high standard, our fees are exceptionally low and we have very positive funds in the bank.  Our financial statements are on display on the noticeboard outside the office for you to read at any time.

We are in a really stable position to invest further in our centres development and excited about the many benefits this will bring!

Over the 15 years we have substantially developed our centre many times to respond to the needs of our community and are really proud of what we offer.

We would love your feedback on our initial proposal and design, see the attached plan.

Please feel free to drop me an email or stop by the office and I can show you further where we are planning this.

Is there anything else you would like to see happening within or be a part of?

Facebook:

Do you follow us on Facebook? A great place to keep an eye on updates and visitors. You will also be seeing regular posts of the amazing learning that happens here at Preschool.

Child Spaces:

We currently have spaces available throughout the centre, if you are needing more days pop in and we will see what we can do for you.

I am in the office Monday to Thursday, you are welcome to drop in and see me at anytime.
