Bicultural News

Courtney Hammond —

Kia ora e te Whānau!!

Thank you for your interest in our whānau hui.  With the end of the year fast approaching we know everyone is getting busy. We want to make sure we can have meaningful kōrero at a time that works for you, so we have an exciting event planned for Term 4!!!!  Date to be confirmed - we will be having a whānau fun evening. B.Y.O kai. We would love to see the whole whānau.

Te Wiki o te reo Māori was a week of celebration and reflection. This was an opportunity to celebrate the strong commitment we have to our bicultural practice and to our bicultural heritage. Te reo Māori is woven naturally throughout our daily kaupapa, through planned and informal learning experiences and as a part of our daily routines. We received some beautiful resources from the Ministry of Education that we will be using and implementing.

Sadly for us but exciting for him, Matua Ben Thompson from Swannanoa School will be off overseas for a year in 2020. We would love to continue with our centre wide weekly waiata/ kapahaka.  If you know of anyone who could help us we would love to make contact with them. A huge ngā mihi to Ben for his regular engagement with our tamariki.

Ngā mihi nui.
