Atawhai News

Chauntelle Evans —

It has definitely started to look and feel like Spring over the last couple of weeks! We have had some lovely warm spring days, our trees and plants are beginning to bud with new growth, and we have been lucky enough to go and visit the school to meet the new baby kids (goats).

We are lucky to have such a close relationship with Swannanoa School where they invite us to join them for celebrations and events. Over the last few weeks we have been involved in planting their Garden of New Zealand with the senior students.  Some of our four year olds had the opportunity to join the entire school community as they enjoyed their Hāngi last week.

In Atawhai we are continuing to explore different mathematical concepts through our play. Tamariki have been enjoying rhyming and counting board stories, comparing big and small, puzzles, and also exploring the ideas of inside, beside, behind, under, and through as we develop our spatial awareness in the outdoor environment.

Please remember to bring in drink bottles and a change of clothes each day – especially as the weather starts to warm up.
