Penny Coulthard —

Wow, we cannot believe that we are in the final term of the year and will it race by.

With this in mind we have been thinking about our Christmas party. This will be held during the week the 7th – 11th December, with the whole week being all about Christmas. More information about this will be out a little later in the term. During Term 4 our Group Planning is focused around:

 Tamariki being confident in their identities, languages, cultures and abilities. To support this we love to hear about the ways that as families you celebrate Christmas and the traditions that you have. We would also love to hear about the languages, cultures and traditions that are important to you as families and ways that you embrace this in your everyday.

 Tamariki keeping themselves healthy and caring for themselves. To support and guide this we have been talking with tamariki about ways they can keep themselves healthy – eat lots of good food (fruit, vegetables), drinking water, wearing our sun hats, washing our hands. The tamariki have enjoyed planting little gardens and watching them as they grow.

They are now looking forward to adding these plants to our planter boxes and continuing to watch them grow. From this planting the Tamariki made a display of the vegetables that grow above and below the ground – they have found this very interesting and continue to ask if certain vegetables grow above or below the ground.

As an Envrioschools Centre, this focus supports learning for sustainability and sustainable communities.

A big welcome to our new tamariki and families who have joined us in Manaaki. We look forward to getting to know you all and supporting you to feel a real sense of belonging within the Manaaki environment. Please remember that if at any time you wish to discuss anything regarding your tamariki, please speak to any kaiako.

From all the Manaaki Staff.
