Bicultural News

Courtney Hammond —

Thank you all for attending our whanau picnic! We had some great discussions with whanau around our bilcultural practice across the centre.

As the Bicultural Leadership Group we will discuss where to next for us on our bicultural journey.

This month Ashlee, Jo and Courtney will be attending a two night three day noho marae at Tuahiwi Marae as we begin an exciting three month te reo Maori course, Te Ahu o te reo Maori.

Rachael Howley (currently teaching in Manaaki) will join the Bicultural Leadership whanau. Rachael is completing her final year of her Bachelor of Teaching and Learning ECE with the University of Canterbury.  Rachael will be a wonderful addition and help in supporting us on our Bicultural journey at Swannanoa Preschool.

We are really pleased to announce that Reece and Kate from Swannanoa School, along with a group of senior students, will be joining us on Tuesday afternoons at 1pm when we recommence our waiata hui (formerly known as Kapa Haka).

Ngā mihi nui whānau,

Your Bicultural Leadership Team, Courtney, Jo, Ashlee, Katrina J and Laura
