Bicultural Curriculum (Kapa Haka)

Courtney Hammond —

Exciting plans for 2019....

The Bicultural Leadership Team include kaiako from across all areas of the centre working together to ensure our Bicultural practices are continually developing and are authentic and meaningful.

We are working on some exciting opportunities in 2019.

These include professional development, kapa haka, raranga (weaving) and holding a number of  whānau hui.

Did you know that the beautiful glass art featured in this article was lovingly made especially for us by a very talented glass artist - Tash Sim.

It depicts the beautiful plains and hills, which were once covered in native forest, surround us and where kai was gathered, harakeke for weaving and kai, cabbage trees for navigation and the nearby rivers for travel and kai

If anyone has any ideas or knowledge to share we would love to hear from, and work alongside you.

Please feel free to chat to any of the Bicultural Leadership members.
