Chauntelle Evans —

Over the last month the children have been enjoying having the opportunity to create and lead their own board stories using the magnetic or Velcro story pictures. This has led to chid-initiated group times, tamariki helping kaiako to lead group times, as well as role playing different scenes and scenarios. After a recent PD our kaiako have been using ancestral stories with tamariki, which our tamariki have then been using to recreate and retell their own stories with each other – you may have been hearing some of them being retold at home.

With the Rugby World Cup happening you may notice the children coming home to teach you some new signs; such as for ‘Japan’, ‘All Blacks’, and ‘rugby’. Ball skills, and rugby in particular, are an interest for a lot of our tamariki at the moment so we all look forward to seeing where this takes us. If you have anything at home which you would like to contribute or which your children would like to bring in and share with us that relates to the world cup it would be much appreciated.

The sun is definitely having a presence throughout the day, so now that we are sun-blocking it’s a good idea to have a sun hat to wear in the outdoors, as well as a change of clothes for water play.

This year is certainly going by very fast! If you have any questions or queries then make sure you don’t hesitate to talk to any of us at any time of the day.
