The Enviroschool Team has had another busy month.

Laura Rea-Hunt —

We continue to keep whanau and tamariki informed of our projects by displays throughout the hallway.

If the environment is an interest or passion of yours we would love to hear any ideas you may have.

At present we are looking at developing a swap stand with the help of a wonderful group called Menz Shed.  This will involve whanau/families donating extra produce from their gardens, jams, relish, used books etc., which you can then swap for something on the shelving.  We will keep you informed about our progress.

In May the staff will be participating in an Enviroschools Professional Development to reaffirm our understanding of the Enviroschool Philosophy and principles.

We have recently had a waste audit by the wonderful Toni Watts from Enviroschools Canterbury.  We continue to make a huge effort to recycle and reuse as much as possible at Swannanoa Preschool.  This is evident in our audit which shows how much waste goes to landfill and how much we are able to manage ourselves.

We have kindly been donated 28 trees/shrubs from Trees for Canterbury.

We are looking forward to going for green/gold award at the end of June.  All input from our families would be kindly appreciated.

We celebrated Earth Day with art work from our children and displays and play around this theme.

Gumboot Day was a huge success raising $ 148.70 , which is being matched by Swannanoa Preschool for young people's mental health - well done!

We hope you are enjoying your wet bags and they are now for sale at $6 each.  The children were certainly excited at being able to choose their own bags
