Manaaki News

Penny Coulthard —

It is so nice to see the sun and enjoy the lovely spring days. With the lovely weather the children are enjoying spending more time outside.

We always enjoy hearing about special and exciting times that the children have been up to and seeing special objects that they like to share with us. However, at the moment we are having children bring in toys from home they would like to play with at Preschool. We understand that these toys are special, but we ask that these toys stay at home, so that they remain special and undamaged or lost. We are very lucky at Preschool to have great resources that all the children get to play with. If you have any questions about this please speak with staff.

During our day in Manaaki we come together to do mat time before lunch. This mat time is split into two groups. The children  currently identify their group by age.  We thought it would be nice to give the two groups names – so we are now known as The Moa’s and The Kiwi’s. At the moment The Moa's are the older children and The Kiwi's are the younger children.  Mat times are planned to meet the learning needs and interests of the children in each group. These groups also allow for flexibility and movement of children to make sure that we are meeting the needs of all children. So if you hear your children talking about these groups you now know what they are referring to. If you have any questions, please speak to staff.
