Otago Primary School Netball Tournament.

Kelsey Brocklebank —

On Thursday the 31st of August the 7A and 8A netball teams represented Tahuna at the annual Primary Schools Tournament held at the Edgar Centre.

The tournament is a great way to finish off the season, and also an opportunity to get used to a tournament structure and play teams from all around Otago. Games were short: 2 x 7 minute halves but teams played 4 or 5 games in the day.

Year 8's: Cruised through pool play beating Lawrence and Kavanagh Blue by large margins. This took us through to the quarter finals where we had a close tussle with the top Kavanagh team, Kavanagh Gold. A flurry of goals to Tahuna at the end meant a 6-3 win to advance to the semis. Although we won no games in this section we played well and pushed some top teams right to the final whistle. FINAL PLACING: 4th out of 18 teams.

Year 7's: had a close first game against Columba, losing by 1 or 2 goals. At the end of this game, we were warmed up and ready to secure two wins to come out at the top of our pool. We advanced into the quarter finals, having a victory against Oamaru Intermediate. In the semis we had a close game against St Hilda's, winning right up until the last quarter where we unfortunately could not secure the win. FINAL PLACING: 4th out of 14 teams.

Well done to everyone involved, a great day was had by all.
